SMD Resistor Coding Systems

  • 3-Digit Code: First 2 digits are significant figures, 3rd digit is multiplier (number of zeros)
  • 4-Digit Code: First 3 digits are significant figures, 4th digit is multiplier (higher precision)
  • EIA-96 Code: 2 digits + 1 letter. Digits represent value from EIA-96 series, letter is multiplier
  • 'R' indicates decimal point: 2R2 = 2.2Ω, R47 = 0.47Ω
